Passage: Ephesians 2:1–2:10

“He who believes in me will live even though he dies, and everyone who believes in me will never die (John 11:25).”

“Christ will be honored in my body whether by life or by death. For to me to live is Christ and to die is gain (Phil. 1:20b-21).”

“So I find it to be a law that when I want to do right, evil lies close at hand (Romans 7:21).”

I. If God is the source of our new life, we can the new life that He brings.

“When Christ, who is your life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory (Col. 3:4).”

“I am the way, the truth and the life (John 14:6).”

II. God is the source of new life, therefore love is the essence.

“For one will hardly die for a righteous man; though perhaps for the good man someone would dare even to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:7-8).”

III. God is the source of our new life, therefore good works are the result.

“For one will hardly die for a righteous man; though perhaps for the good man someone would dare even to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:7-8).”

Love is the fruit of grace, mercy the deed of love.
